Survey: Why SMBs Hire and Fire Accounting Firms

January 13, 2020

The Bill.com 2019 Accounting Firm Hire/Fire Index* asked business professionals why they have hired, fired, or stopped referring accounting firms. The survey results shed light on ways to prevent the erosion of referrals, welcome new clients, and enhance service to existing clients.

The report also includes insight from experienced accounting thought leaders that include:

  • Aaron Berson, CPA, CEO and co-founder of Fringe Advisory Co.
  • Dixie McCurley, co-founder and president of Trusted CFO Solutions
  • Christine Triantos, partner at Anton Collins Mitchell

About the survey:

Bill.com surveyed 299 small to midsize business owners and other company leaders to find out why they hire, fire or do not refer their accounting firms. The results are based on an April 2019 SurveyMonkey Audience quantitative study. For the survey, businesses had the opportunity to select multiple options from pre-populated lists and add reasons of their own.
